Know
Jawline isn’t one muscle. It’s 3 support systems working together.
The 3 Muscle Systems Creating Your Jawline Definition
Under-Chin Hammock
When Strong & Toned:
Cradles chin like a sling, locks the clean 90° angle
When Weak & Slack:
Chin folds downward, double-chin pocket forms
Front-Neck Sheet
When Strong & Toned:
Holds smooth neck-to-jaw transition, anchors lower face
When Weak & Slack:
Creates stringy bands that drag jawline down
Side-Jaw Frame
When Strong & Toned:
Defines jaw border with side muscle contour
When Weak & Slack:
Face looks wider, jaw edge disappears into cheeks
● Now Connect the Dots ●
That’s when a double chin + saggy jawline appear.
No topical cream rebuilds this foundation. Because skincare can’t train a muscle.
“But does tiny work really fix under-chin sag?”
In a 2025 clinical trial on middle-aged women (45–55), researchers put participants through an 8-week, intensive face yoga program (2 guided sessions/week + 5 home sessions/week, ~30 minutes/session).
Then they tested facial muscles using a medical measurement tool— a device that objectively reads the muscle’s tone, stiffness, and elasticity.
Here's the under-chin part that matters:
The digastric muscle (a key muscle under the jawline/under-chin area) didn’t just “relax”. It showed strong, measurable improvement after 8 weeks:
✦ Tone increased (meaning stronger baseline activation)
✦ Stiffness increased (meaning more structural hold)
✦ Elasticity improved significantly — and the digastric had one of the strongest elasticity changes measured (p = 0.005)
Most important takeaway:
The digastric muscle showed the strongest improvement, meaning face yoga had its biggest strengthening effect right under the chin.
Ready to turn
theory into tightening? Let’s begin.
QUICK PREP (15 seconds)
Sit tall and let your
shoulders relax.
Rub a few pumps of oil between your palms to warm it.
Gently glide the oil over your neck, under the chin, and along the jaw using light, upward strokes.
MOVE #1
Double Chin Exercise
Hand placement
Place both hands flat on your upper chest on the bony strip just under your collarbones (where a necklace would sit).
Fingers point inward toward each other. Thumbs relax out to the sides.
Do it
Keep hands planted and inhale deep through your nose.
Pull the chest skin straight DOWN (toward your ribs) and hold that gentle traction.
Tilt head back and look up.
Pull your lower lip up toward the tip of your nose (teeth apart; don’t clench).
Hold 10 seconds. Relax. Rest 6 seconds.
Do: 3 reps total.
MOVE #2
Lip Exercise –Open/Close
Hand placement
Keep the same collarbone anchor: hands flat under collarbones, gently pulling skin down the whole time.
Do it
Curl lips inward over teeth (hide your teeth).
Inhale through your nose, tilt head back slightly.
Open your mouth as slowly as possible.
Keep moving: exhale through your mouth as you slowly close.
Open again without fully closing shut.
That’s 1 rep. Do 10 slow open/close reps.
Do: 10 reps → rest 6 seconds → repeat for 3 total sets.
MOVE #3
Face Massage – Jawline Stroke
Hand placement
Put fingertips on the jaw hinge spot under the ear (the little “jaw joint” area).
Do it
Do 3 small circles on the cheek outside → in (toward nose).
Bring hands together over the nose and glide downward to the chin.
Place fingertips under the center of your chin.
Stroke from under the chin out toward the ears (one smooth sweep).
Do: repeat the full sequence 3 rounds.

Rest Rules
✦ Inside each move: follow the 6-second rests exactly where listed.
✦ Between moves: take ~10 seconds of relaxed nasal breathing before starting the next exercise.
Total session time: ≈ 5 minutes
(4 min + 48 sec work + ≈ 20 sec transition breath)
Set a timer, press play on calming music, and own these five minutes. Consistency-first; intensity-second.

*Important note:
The published clinical study evaluated a longer, intensive face-yoga protocol (~30 minutes per session) for 8 weeks. This 5-minute daily ritual is a shorter adaptation using select study-inspired movements and has not been clinically tested as a standalone routine.
